On October 9th work was started to put in a new audio system for Kayhi’s auditorium.
“Anybody who has used the auditorium over the last several years knows that we’ve started to get frustrated because things have started to quit working,” said Trina Purcell. “Things are breaking down and so we’ve been piecemealing it together.”
With the new system in place, everything will be more reliable for those who work behind the scenes and will provide a better experience for the audience. New speakers will be flown above the stage, providing more room on stage. Cry room speakers will also be replaced.
A new mixing board will be put in place, along with new amplifiers, and their communication system will now be wireless. There will also be an all-new paging system, enabling those in the booth to make announcements to anyone in the green room or dressing rooms.
Beyond there now being four new wireless microphones and eight lavalier microphones, there will also be a projector mounted underneath the balcony that can be operated from the stage or booth.
Purcell is excited to learn and teach with this new system and cannot wait to hear it.
