Ketchikan:
The 5th seed Kings beat 4th seed Dimond in the quarterfinals yesterday at the Alaska Airlines Arena, 52-48. The Kings led the Lynx most of the game, Dimond took a two-point lead in the third, but with the Dela-Cruz twins and Gage Massin, they shot back into the lead. Massin had three 3’s in the third quarter and finished with 16 points. The distant shooting was crucial for the boys, Edward and Josiah Dela-Cruz were warmed up and combined for 22 points, Edward with 9, and Josiah with 13. Senior Marcus Stockhausen broke a tie game in the fourth quarter and the Kings held onto the lead. Massin was recognized for his tough defense and nice distance shooting and was awarded Player of the Game. Casidee Zartman was recognized as the Cheerleader of the Game. Advancing to the Semifinals, the Kings are matched up to play the number one seed, Grace Christian on Friday.
Juneau:
The 5th seed Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears beat the 4th seed Bartlett Golden Bears in the quarterfinals on March 19 in the Alaska Airlines Arena, 49-44. Both teams played tough defense but were still finding the gaps. Gwen Nizich recognized as the Player of the Game, hit multiple three-pointers giving JD some breathing room. The advancing JD is to play the number one seed, Colony, in the Semifinal game on Friday. Karina San Miguel was JD’s Cheerleader of the Game.
